Their goals are focused around prevention, survival and quality of life with three programme areas to achieve them; advocacy, cancer services and research. The Irish Cancer Society received a cheque for €441.00.

Children in Hospital Ireland is a voluntary organisation, which promotes the welfare of children in hospital. The aim of Children in Hospital is to promote the welfare of sick children by drawing attention to their special needs for emotional security. To support and help parents before, during and after their child’s stay in hospital. To increase the awareness of policy makers to the special needs of sick children. To organise hospital play schemes with the help of a group of marvellous volunteers. Children in Hospital Ireland also offer a comprehensive advice and information service for parents and professionals they talk to parent groups and others concerned with the care of sick children and produce a range of relevant publications. Children in Hospital Ireland received a cheque for €442.00.

Mary O’Connor, CEO of Children in Hospital Ireland commented "Well done to the Shamrocker Adventurers! Children in Hospital Ireland is honoured to have been chosen as a beneficiary of this first every St Patrick’s Day Raffle. The funds raised will support our services for sick children in hospitals throughout the country."

Amelie Magnin, Marketing and Fundraising Executive replied ‘‘This positive initiative from the Shamrocker Adventures was a great opportunity to directly support our services for sick children and their families. It has been a real help, especially in such an economic context!’’

An Taisce The National Trust for Ireland is Ireland’s oldest charity protecting our built and natural heritage. Celebrating its 60th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary in 2008, An Taisce is an advocate for the quality of all life that works to protect Ireland’s rich and often undervalued natural and cultural heritage through heritage ownership, environmental education, partnership and improved national policies. We promote a holistic approach that encourages development to take place in harmony with heritage rather than with mitigation as an afterthought. At the heart of An Taisce’s objectives is the promotion of sustainable development in all facets of Irish life for future generations. An Taisce received €441.00.

Abby McSherry, PR Officer commented ‘An Taisce cares for 10,500 acres of unspoilt Irish countryside, including pristine bogs, dramatic offshore islands and heather clad mountains, we also manage 45 historic structures in 10 counties across this beautiful land. This property is held in trust for the Irish nation and it is really good to know that it is appreciated by visitors taking sustainable holidays such as those tourists with the Shamrocker company, who supported this vital fundraising project.’

Pete Duncan, Head of the Shamrocker Adventures Charity Team said, ‘This was our first ever St. Patrick’s Day charity raffle and are delighted at the generosity of our passengers. It is important to us that we give something back to the areas in which we operate.’
